Toby, just goto the CycleOps/PowerTap support site and download the latest version of PowerAgent. The driver is bundled into that.

Here’s whats been happening this week in sidebar emails with SARIS.

Last we’ve heard was 9/9 (below) – nothing more I can make out on the website as of today. The Link in SARIS (Ryan’s update to us below) reads like this on SARIS Site:

…”Attention PowerAgent/Snow Leopard Users
On Friday, August 28, 2009 Apple released the Snow Leopard operating system. Unfortunately, some users are finding that their CPUs and consoles are no longer communicating with their computer and subsequently PowerAgent has not been able to properly function. CycleOps is working to create a fix and targets September 18, 2009 as a completion date. Please check back at that time for instructions on how to update your computer. Thank you for your patience.”

Michael and I both provided very large files of data & logs (the 2 items outlined below). If you’re encountering same problem and you’re discussing with Saris, I’d just encourage you to send your MAC information and POWERAGENT Log as outlined below by Ryan.

To fix this will be like getting a stop light installed at a dangerous intersection…there seem to have to be alot of accidents reports before anything is done with any sense of urgency for the greater good/masses. Of course, to be fair, the delay could be because there are some individual distinctions in the way the problem arises.

The 2 pieces of information SARIS asked for and provided to Saris Contact (Ryan below) are:
(1) Power Agent Log
Power Agent creates a log file every time it runs that will help us track down where the error is occurring.
It should be located here: ~/Library/Application Support/poweragent.
(2) Your MAC Info
There is one more piece of info I would like from you. Go to Apple > About This Mac > More Info then do a save as to create a file of your system info. Could you please send me that file. We are looking for any common ground between your computers that is different from the computer that this fix has worked on.

Here’s the contact (Ryan) that seems to be the technical point person or coordination point – while other service folks get on, Ryan seems to be working it thru and he’s been very responsive

Having the exact same problem, same error message, same detailed dump, etc. Contacted Saris, installed the new FTDI drivers for Snow Leopard, didn’t work. Reinstalled the complete Power Agent software. Didn’t work. Haven’t heard back from Saris yet.

Ditto Response (same prescription) again from another person at Saris – Replied with same detail. Trying to close the circle there. Referred to this site so they could see the others of us who are having the problem even after following their directions. Awaiting response (Fingers crossed) – will keep posting any progress.

Yeah, they told me to download new FTDI Chip drivers and reboot. I did and absolutely nothing changed. I get the same errors. I sent them back detailed error dumps. No response today.

I’m having the same issue. I installed the new USB drivers for Snow Leopard and doesn’t work. Tried a new install of Poweragent and still no go. Let me know if you find a way to make this work.

COM port’s not the issue, unless they got reshuffled with SNOW LEOPARD…this same setup all worked fine on same machine, same sw (ex snow leopard)

Quick update:
Ok…called them yesterday and got a response from SARIS…..(but still get the communications error).

I tried everything – de-installing/re-installing, power off and on, full package and package with new drivers. No luck.

In case that my problem has more to do with my machine and perhaps some USB conflicts (that now mysteriously arise N after this working perfectly pre-snowleopard (can’t imagine this), nothing else but MAC OS upgrade changed),Just in case it may be helpful to you.. I’ll share the response

1) Download the Poweragent (7.4.5.6) MAC package and reinstall (the MAC download has the poweragent sw AND the NEW Snowleopard drivers in the package as of yesterday 9/31/09). You’ll install and REBOOT – don’t worry about removing or de-installed the version on your system now, this overwrites, but you must REBOOT/power off and on to kick in the USB drivers.

2) If the package doesn’t work, I have the direct link for new USB drivers from SARIS Support Here is the direct link for the driver you will need to get PowerAgent to connect: http://bit.ly/4gi2wt

click and choose the poweragent snowleopard drivers, install them (they’ll overwrite your old ones) and reboot (power off/on).

I have another question in to Saris (Jon Schroder there was very helpful in providing this new package, just still not working for me).
I see all my old data and the poweragent sw works fine on my machine with the data already on there (past 3 years of data), but it’s not reading my USB.
