My posts to Black Coffee Blog have become less frequent. To some degree it was because I am generally tired and or busy. But also another prime culprit is that it’s based on Movable Type, which has become, well, so four years ago. It just sucks. It’s royal pain to incorporate pictures. It can’t withstand comment spam well. It’s a bitch to make it look different from standard templates. Too much maintenance on it requires a high-latency ssh shell connection. It became easier to simply use Flickr or Del.icio.us.

So for some time now I’ve had intentions to pay someone to create a WordPress installation for me and gracefully migrate all my links and stories into the new WordPress installation. Ugh. Sounds like a pain keeping all the permalinks intact, etc. Then, maybe because it’s the first day of the new year, I had an inspiration, “Leave Black Coffee Blog in situ and create a brand new blog from scratch, right from the root of karavshin.org.”

And twenty-five minutes later Silver Case was born.

Hopefully I’ll find it easier to post more frequently, post richer articles, and keep the system in better repair. Black Coffee will remain as a legacy blog, but I think I’ll turn off the commenting to cease the spambot attacks. I’m looking forward to trying out some Wordpress plugins to incorporate Flickr and Del.icio.us.
For those of you using RSS Readers to follow Black Coffee, now you’ll want to subscribe to Silver Case’s RSS feed.
